Offers for daycare centers and preschools

The museum's educational programs for preschoolers, school classes and vacationing children make the museum a place of discovery and wonder for its young visitors, a space for questions and insight.

Based on our collections, we give children and young people the opportunity for a very personal approach to art, history and stories.

August: "What is the little goat doing in the clock case?"

Of course! It's hiding from the wolf. But what does a clock look like that has enough room to hide? We take a close look at such a floor standing clock, learn why it is so big and what it was important for beyond that. Of course, we will also hear the fairy tale "Of the wolf and the seven young goats". At the end, everyone is allowed to draw their own little goat hideout based on the grandfather clock.

September: The table is set!

Pineapples, grapes, cherries and more, the light makes glasses sparkle. We look at a still life by Schwaan artist Rudolf Bartels (1873-1943), discovering colors and shapes.

Most of all, we'll be inspired to create our own still life.

October: watch out, animals in the museum!

We're going hunting! Our hunting ground is the permanent exhibition "Arts and Crafts". It's amazing how many animals can be discovered on clocks, pewter vessels, glass and ceramics: painted, cast or carved. At the end, we take a closer look at a Dutch faience tile with a depiction of an animal. Following this example, everyone can then design their own tile. Of course with his favorite animal.

November: gaming anno dunnemals

We take a look at the toy exhibition. There's lots to discover: great-grandmothers' dollhouses, building sets, trains, rocking horses and a paper theater!

Inspired by the historical toys, we make our own toys and of course we play!

December: "Paul Müller-Kaempff: Winter in Mecklenburg," before 1907

The artist is the founding father of the Ahrenshoop artists' colony. Already at the end of the 19th century, Müller-Kaempff was one of the most famous and progressive landscape painters of his time. His work in Ahrenshoop is inspired by the vast landscape between the sea and the Bodden in the changing light and seasons. We look at the painted winter landscape, fathom the mood of the picture and try to translate it into sound by means of Orff instruments.
